Day 9 of the "Compartir Europa" Training Course: Exploring Urban Environments

Introduction: Day 9 of the "Compartir Europa" training course was dedicated to exploring urban environments. Participants focused on capturing the dynamic interplay between architecture, public spaces, and the everyday life of a city through their photography, providing a comprehensive view of urban life.


Morning Session: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Logistics and Planning The day began with a logistics briefing and planning session. Participants were introduced to the key aspects of urban environments and the sites they would visit to capture these themes through their photography.


Key Highlights:


  • Logistics Overview: Detailed discussion on the locations to be visited and the specific urban themes to focus on.

  • Equipment Preparation: Ensuring all teams had the necessary photographic tools to capture urban environments effectively.


10:00 AM - 4:00 PM: Practical Photography Session Participants visited various locations to observe and capture the vibrant urban landscapes and the unique architectural elements of Valencia. This hands-on experience aimed to enhance their understanding and ability to visually represent urban life.


Sites Visited:


City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias): This iconic cultural and architectural complex provided an excellent opportunity for participants to capture futuristic architecture and public spaces.


Valencia North Railway Station (Estación del Norte): This historic train station is an architectural gem, offering rich photographic subjects with its ornate design and bustling activity.

Serranos Towers (Torres de Serranos): These medieval gates are part of Valencia's old city walls and provide a striking contrast between historical and modern urban elements.


Central Market of Valencia (Mercado Central): This market is a hub of activity and a perfect location to capture the vibrancy of urban life and commerce.


Key Activities:


  • Capturing Urban Life: Focusing on architectural details, public spaces, and daily city life.

  • Techniques and Angles: Utilizing various photographic techniques to highlight the contrast and harmony between different urban elements.


Afternoon Session: 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Reflection and Feedback After the practical session, participants gathered at the host organization's venue to reflect on their experiences and share feedback. This session was crucial for discussing the day's successes and areas for improvement.


Key Activities:


  • Group Reflection: Teams shared their photographs and discussed the urban elements they captured.

  • Instructor Feedback: Instructors provided constructive feedback on the techniques used and the effectiveness of the visual representations of urban themes.


Evening Session: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM: Informal Socialization The day concluded with an informal dinner, allowing participants to relax and continue their discussions in a more casual setting. This socialization time helped build stronger connections and fostered a collaborative learning environment.
